How did a kid from a good family in the upper-middle-class suburbs of Philadelphia, who played football for, and graduated from, Princeton University, find himself living the jet-set life of world's top male model simultaneously while also unwittingly being drawn into a destructive religious cult?
The shocking and inspiring true story of abuse, escape, and redemption.

About My Work
Core Values
Each person's story is unique and has the transformative power to facilitate the healing of a human interior that has been wounded by the external world. Through exploring personal creativity and providing education and resources, my work guides people toward self discovery and understanding that can be used to chart a better path forward.
I specialize in educating teens and young adults and have a special interest in reaching this audience through schools and universities. I also work with families to help them understand what is happening with their children through my lived experience, believing that the power of insight, accountability and awareness creates lasting impacts that drive positive change.
MY APPROACH
Philosophy
My Mission
I have come to understand that no one can truly save another person. People save themselves. What I do is support and facilitate the process for people who are looking to recover from coercion and abuse. For me, the information came in the form of a book that I almost didn’t read. A single chapter describing someone else’s experience in language so precise it could have been written about me is why I use storytelling as an informative tool that I've found to be more effective than theoretical constructs.
And so my goal is to put resources within reach that provide a perspective that broadens the sense of what is possible. More knowledge means more options. More options mean more choices. I aim to get people ready for what's next by providing tools and techniques that can be used as an engine of change because one door that wasn’t visible before is the difference between staying and leaving a high control situation.
New Online Support Circles
Our groups are for families and loved ones impacted by high-control groups and coercive relationships. Connect with others, ask questions, and find clear, actionable education that supports recovery and healthy boundaries. We prioritize compassion, privacy, and accessibility in how we communicate. Together, we build understanding and a path forward.
TALKING ABOUT RECOVERY
Read My Blog
I spent fifteen years inside a high-control religious group and the better part of the twenty-five years since trying to understand how it happened and what it means. Not just for me, but for what it reveals about the relationships and dynamics that most of us navigate in some form, whether we have ever heard the word cult or not.
The posts you will find in my blog share ideas about identity, belonging, manipulation, recovery, and the basic human needs that make all of the above matter. I hope my writings speak to you and you find things in them that are useful in your relationships and life.

I learned I didn’t need to be rescued. I needed to be ready.
